Assignment overview: This assignment lays the foundation for your other major assignments
this semester. To begin, please choose TWO topics in organizational communication from the
list provided here that sound interesting. Then, for each of the two topics, do some research.
Based on what is learned from this assignment, choose which of these two topics to continue to
explore for with an annotated bibliography and research study proposal.
Assignment specifics: For each of your two topics, please locate a minimum of four peer-
reviewed, academic journal articles that relate directly to the specific topic. In total, locate eight
academic journal articles for this assignment. Read each of these articles to learn more about the
two different topics that are of interest. Then, write a brief 250–300-word summary of about the
two topics and state the way to investigate within subsequent assignments.
Components of assignment to submit with grading information:
o The titles, authors, and publication information for eight peer-reviewed academic
articles that relate to the two topics you are investigating—four articles for each
topic. All of this information should be provided in APA format.
Grading this component: Each article is worth 5 points: 2.5 points for
providing the article’s information, and 2.5 points for using proper APA
style formatting. 8 peer-reviewed articles x 5 points each = 40 points total.
o One 250–300-word summary explaining the two topics researched. This summary
should: 1) overview the key points that you learned about both topics; 2) compare
the aspects of the topics that you find interesting; 3) share which of the two topics
to continue to explore this semester; 4) and explain why that topic.
Grading this component: The grade will be based upon how completely
each of the pieces discussed in the paragraph above are addressed. This
summary is worth 10 points.
